Honolulu – On Wednesday, December 6, 2006, 7-Eleven and 76 will host a “Grand Opening” celebration of their new convenience store and fueling station which will feature Oahu’s first retail offering of B20 biodiesel, a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% ultra low sulfur diesel. This event will feature Ms. Daryl Hannah, actress, long-time advocate and user of biodiesel, who will be at the event which will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on site at the 565 Halemaumau Street in Niu Valley just off of Kalanianaole Highway.

Daryl Hannah states, “Biodiesel, when it’s sustainably produced and harvested, is a great part of the solution to help end our crippling addiction to fossil fuels. Pacific Biodiesel is leading the way by recycling waste cooking oil and turning it into fuel!”

“B20 is a good way to get more biodiesel into the community,” explained Pacific Biodiesel president Bob King. “It eases users into this new fuel slowly and it makes the diesel portion of their fuel burn more cleanly.” King added that the new ultra low sulfur diesel benefits from being blended as the biodiesel adds a much-needed lubricant factory.

The Niu Valley site is the second biodiesel station opened in as many months by Mid Pac Petroleum, LLC, which licenses the 76 brand in Hawaii. “Working with Pacific Biodiesel, Inc. fits into both our company’s strategies to provide greater public access to locally produced biodiesel,” said Richard Parry, President of Mid Pac Petroleum. “Offering biodiesel at a second location in our brand new Niu Valley facility is our statement of our belief in the viability of biodiesel in our island community and that people, if given a choice, will want to participate in keeping Hawaii’s beauty intact.”

The Grand Opening will include gasoline discounts, in-store specials, refreshments and gift certificates for biodiesel purchasers.

“Hawaii is a very special and unique place. As a good corporate citizen, Seven-Eleven Hawaii, Inc. is committed to keeping our State clean and beautiful,” said Glenn Nagatori, General Manager, Seven-Eleven Hawaii, Inc. “We are very pleased that Mid Pac Petroleum has selected our Niu Valley 7-Eleven store to be the first to offer the B20 Biodiesel fuel on Oahu.”
