POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Production Supervisor - Big Island Biodiesel, LLC
Location: Keaau, Hawaii

Position Overview: Lead a team of operators to meet target volumes of quality biodiesel production while maintaining the facility and effectively communicating status and support needs to the management team.{br}

Position Responsibilities:
•Plan, prioritize and communicate daily/weekly activities.
•Manage the receipt, storage, and inventory control of raw material and lab supplies into the facility.
•Process the material into finished biodiesel adhering to a set of Standard Operating Procedures.
•Perform quality control measures.
•Manage the shipping of finished product.
•Prepare plans and schedules to achieve the production and quality targets for the plant; including monthly, weekly, daily, and shift production plans.
•Prepare work schedules and duties for Plant Operators and Shipping/Receiving.
•Coordinate material deliveries and product shipments.
•Contribute to forecasts and budgets.
•Evaluate and recommend changes to increase productivity.
•Document and disseminate shipping and receiving information; quality control documentation; plant status; and production reports collected to the management team.
•Coordinate with the Plant Engineer to identify and address immediately potential issues that may affect production such as boilers, evaporators, pumps, condensers, switches, valves, etc. in the least disruptive manner possible.
•Regularly test samples, materials, batches, etc., for quality and preferred chemical/physical characteristics
•Operate transfer pumps within the plant; valves and connecting hoses to vacuum trucks; and forklift truck to load and unload various material used in the plant.
•Coordinate fuel deliveries and prepare necessary paper work.
•Operate biodiesel plant as needed to cover employee PTO.
•Perform maintenance and/or general housekeeping of equipment and work areas plus general labor duties.
•Continually communicate needs, expenses, anticipated production disruptions, etc., to management.
•Work with Plant Manager to satisfy all regulatory and compliance requirements relating to facility real property, equipment, product/materials, and waste.
•Maintain/interpret all digital plant related logs/records.
•Work with all members of the Pacific Biodiesel team in a cooperative manner.
•Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Management Responsibilities:
•Hire, train, evaluate, develop, and supervise Plant Operators.
•Provide continued, thoughtful leadership by providing clear communication, setting achievable expectations, routine training, and leadership by example.
•Administer employee performance evaluations, ranking, performance management, coaching, and professional development.

Safety Responsibilities:
•Maintain/test fire and security systems as necessary.
•Oversee safety program – Safety audits, monthly safety meetings, safety improvement efforts, evacuation drills, monthly safety metrics and reports, and other safety related activities.  Ensure employees are engaged in safety efforts including suggestions, feedback, and solution implementation.

Position Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidate MUST be available by phone 24/7 and be able to work all days and hours of the week as necessary.  5+ years direct personnel management experience overseeing 8+ employees plus 5+ years process manufacturing/QC management experience required.  Detailed understanding of refinery processing equipment (valves, pipes, pumps, boiler, etc.) in the plant.  Experience using, creating, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  Proficiency with basic computing software (Microsoft Office).  Proficiency with controlling automated processes with an HMI and SCADA System.  Ability to operate a forklift and qualify for certification.  Mechanical ability to repair and maintain electrical equipment and controls preferred.  Ability to work as a motivated self-starter.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Good time management and organizational skills.  Electrical and welding skills preferred.  High School Diploma or equivalent required, College degree highly preferred.  Professional training in process safety and equipment maintenance a plus.
Valid driver’s license required. Six Sigma, OSHA, HazMat and Forklift certification preferred.  Interest in renewable energy and sustainability.
